The invention relates to a method for monitoring the physical state of a longitudinal element (10) of a railway-type rail, the method comprising: - a step of detecting mechanical waves moving along the longitudinal element (10), in particular due to the passing of a train, by means of an array (14) of mechanical wave sensors placed along and in contact with the longitudinal element, the array (14) comprising at least one first pair (A) of sensors (1, 2) each positioned at one end of a first portion (10a) of the longitudinal element (10), and - a step of processing the signals emitted by the sensors (1, 2) in the array (12) of sensors, the processing step comprising the determination of at least one first interfered signal determined from signals provided by the sensors (1, 2) in the first pair (A) of sensors over a first predetermined period of time.

L'invention concerne un procédé de surveillance de l'état physique d'un élément longitudinal (10) de type rail de chemin de fer qui comprend : - une étape de détection des ondes mécaniques se déplaçant le long de l'élément longitudinal (10), notamment dues au passage d'un train, au moyen d'un réseau (14) de capteurs d'ondes mécaniques placés le long et au contact de l'élément longitudinal, ledit réseau (14) comprenant au moins une première paire (A) de capteurs (1,2) positionnés chacun à une extrémité d'une première portion (10a) de l'élément longitudinal (10), et - une étape de traitement des signaux issus des capteurs (1,2) dudit réseau (12) de capteurs, ladite étape de traitement comportant la détermination d'au moins un premier signal interféré déterminé à partir de signaux délivrés par les capteurs (1,2) de la première paire (A) de capteurs sur une première période temporelle prédéterminée.
