An electronic key system for a vehicle according to the invention which allows the start of a host vehicle when an electronic key of the host vehicle is authenticated includes electronic key information acquisition means for acquiring information relating to the position of the electronic key, taking-out detection means for detecting that the electronic key has been taken out of the host vehicle on the basis of the information relating to the position of the electronic key acquired by the electronic key information acquisition means, and alarm means for providing a warning to notify that the electronic key has been taken out of the host vehicle.
