Disclosed are an air conditioner for a vehicle, capable of producing a vertical temperature difference by performing optimal control of an opening degree of a warm air bypass door, and a control method thereof. The air conditioner for a vehicle comprises: an air conditioning case having an air flow path formed therein and having a face vent and a floor vent formed at an air outlet; a heat exchanger for cooling and a heat exchanger for heating provided in the air flow path of the air conditioning case to exchange heat with air passing therethrough; a temp door provided between the heat exchanger for cooling and the heat exchanger for heating to control opening degrees of a cold air flow path and a hot air flow path; a hot air bypass flow path through which air that has passed through the heat exchanger for heating is directly discharged to the floor vent; and a hot air bypass door for controlling an opening degree of the hot air bypass flow path. The air conditioner further comprises a control unit for controlling a rotation angle of the hot air bypass door in accordance with an air conditioning mode or the degree of opening of the temp door.
온풍 바이패스 도어의 개도를 최적으로 제어하여 상하 온도차를 구현할 수 있는 차량용 공조장치 및 이의 제어방법이 개시된다. 차량용 공조장치는 내부에 공기유로가 형성되고 공기토출구에 페이스벤트 및 플로어벤트가 형성된 공조케이스; 상기 공조케이스의 공기유로에 구비되어 이를 통과하는 공기와 열교환하는 냉각용 열교환기 및 가열용 열교환기; 상기 냉각용 열교환기와 가열용 열교환기 사이에 구비되어 냉풍유로와 온풍유로의 개도를 조절하는 템프도어; 상기 가열용 열교환기를 통과한 공기가 바로 플로어벤트로 토출되도록 하는 온풍바이패스유로; 및 상기 온풍바이패스유로의 개도를 조절하는 온풍바이패스도어를 포함하며, 공조모드 또는 템프도어의 개도량에 따라 상기 온풍바이패스도어의 회전각을 제어하는 제어부가 구비된다.
