To provide a method for producing a rubber composition capable of obtaining a rubber composition which improves dispersion of silica and has excellent low fuel consumption.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing a rubber composition comprising 40 to 200 pts.mass of silica and 5 to 60 pts.mass of carbon black based on 100 pts.mass of a rubber component containing a terminal-modified styrene-butadiene rubber, a butadiene rubber and a natural rubber, which comprises a step 1 of kneading a raw material containing a rubber component other than the terminal-modified styrene-butadiene rubber and a part or all of the carbon black to prepare a master batch and a step 2 of kneading a terminal-modified styrene-butadiene rubber and the rest of the carbon black in the master batch obtained in the step 1.SELECTED DRAWING: None
