To provide a method for a robot to autonomously interact with an elevator control device.SOLUTION: The method includes the steps of: determining that a path includes carefully advancing to a specific floor different from a current floor of a robot while physically advancing along the path to a target position in an environment; carefully advancing along the path to a set of one or more elevators; specifying a position of an elevator call button corresponding to the set of one or more elevators; and carefully advancing to the position of the elevator call button and pressing the elevator call button. Pressing the elevator call button is performed by rotating the robot in place until a vertical structure faces the elevator call button, extending or retracting the vertical structure until a button-pressing element is aligned with the elevator call button, and moving toward the elevator call button and having the button-pressing element press the elevator call button.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
