To provide an idle running time identification method, an idle running distance identification method, a device thereof, and a computer program for identifying timing of a brake applied by a driver in the event of an accident.SOLUTION: A method for identifying an idle running time and an idle running distance, which are indices for determining whether or not a driver was braking properly in the event of an accident includes: an accident determination step of determining whether or not there was an accident; an intrusion start time identification step of identifying an intrusion start time t1 based on image data captured by an in-vehicle camera when it is determined that there was an accident; an avoidance driving operation identification step of identifying, based on traveling history data of a vehicle stored in a traveling history storage unit, an avoidance driving operation time t2 at which an avoidance driving operation for avoiding the accident is performed after the intrusion start time t1; and an idle running time calculation step of calculating an idle running time T1 from the intrusion start time t1 to the avoidance driving operation time t2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7A
