To provide a pedestrian protection system capable of protecting a pedestrian by mitigating shock to a head or the like of the pedestrian due to a secondary collision when an own vehicle performs a primary collision with the pedestrian.SOLUTION: A pedestrian protection system 11 includes: a pedestrian protection device 13 which is mounted in an own vehicle CA; and a pedestrian protection airbag device 15 which is put on a pedestrian MA. The own vehicle CA includes: a vehicle side information acquisition section 31 which acquires target information including the pedestrian MA existing in an advancing direction; a collision prediction section 33 which specifies the pedestrian MA when it is predicted that the own vehicle CA collides on the basis of the target information; a deployment command section 35 which generates deployment command information to the effect that a head protection airbag 45 provided in the pedestrian protection airbag device 15 put on the pedestrian MA specified by the collision prediction section 33 is deployed at a prescribed timing; and a vehicle side communication device 30 which transmits the deployment command information to the side of the pedestrian protection airbag device 15.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
【課題】自車両が歩行者に一次衝突した際、二次衝突による歩行者の頭部等への衝撃を緩和して歩行者を保護可能な歩行者保護システムを提供する。【解決手段】歩行者保護システム１１は、自車両ＣＡに搭載された歩行者保護装置１３と、歩行者ＭＡに装着された歩行者保護エアバッグ装置１５と、を備える。自車両ＣＡには、進行方向に存する歩行者ＭＡを含む物標情報を取得する車側情報取得部３１と、物標情報に基づいて自車両ＣＡが衝突すると予知される歩行者ＭＡを特定する衝突予知部３３と、衝突予知部３３で特定した歩行者ＭＡに装着された歩行者保護エアバッグ装置１５に備わる頭部保護エアバッグ４５を所定のタイミングで展開させる旨の展開司令情報を生成する展開司令部３５と、展開司令情報を、歩行者保護エアバッグ装置１５の側へ送る車側通信装置３０と、が備わっている。【選択図】図１
