PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opening and closing device for a sliding door capable of securing a large area for a translucent part in the sliding door.SOLUTION: An opening and closing device 1 for a sliding door comprises: a sliding door 10 movable in an opening/closing direction ZA; a drive part 40 for driving the sliding door 10; and a connection part 50 for connecting the driving part 40 and a door tail of the sliding door 10 to transmit a driving power from the driving part 40 to the sliding door 10. The sliding door 10 comprises: a translucent part 11 constituting a part of a surface of the sliding door 10; and a pair of crosspieces 12U, 12L which extend in the opening/closing direction ZA, are disposed at both end parts in the translucent part 11, and support the translucent part 11.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
