A system for determining the distance, D between an object and a base line B, which is a line between a first camera’s and a second camera’s centres. The system comprises a first camera C1, a second camera C2 and a processing system (10, 20 fig 3) configured to receive data from the first camera and the second camera and to determine the position of an object, wherein the first and second cameras are oriented with their optical axes an angle α to the base line, wherein α is substantially non-right angle.
