The invention belongs to the field of intelligent robots of engineering machinery, and discloses a climbing maintenance platform robot for a variable-section column. The specific structure comprises a variable-scale annular maintenance platform and accessory, a power device, a hydraulic pump station, an assembly controller and wireless communication module, an upper annular holding device, a lower annular holding device and a power telescopic cylinder connected with the upper annular holding device and the lower annular holding device. A plurality of groups of tensioners and gaskets are connected in series through steel wire ropes to form an annular holding device, and the maintenance platform is hinged to the upper holding device through inclined struts. The enclasping devices can adapt to the change of the cylindrical peripheral cross section through winding and unwinding of the steel wire rope, the upper and lower enclasping devices are controlled to enclasp and loosen alternately through a program during climbing, and the platform is pushed to climb and descend through the power telescopic cylinder. The device can be used for the up-and-down climbing man-carrying and object-carrying maintenance operation of various metal and concrete columnar structures. The device has the characteristics of being simple in structure, self-adaptive to section change, safe, reliable, wide in applicability of carrying people and objects on the platform and the like.
