The invention relates to the technical field of ocean current monitoring, and discloses an ocean current monitoring device and method. Comprising an ocean buoy and an ocean current monitoring mechanism, the ocean buoy is connected with the ocean current monitoring mechanism through a lifting mechanism, a control processor and a pushing motor are arranged in the buoy, the vertical position of the ocean current monitoring mechanism is adjusted, and ocean currents at different underwater positions are monitored; the ocean current monitoring mechanism comprises an upper fixing plate and a lower fixing plate, the fixing plates are connected through four vertical rods and fixedly connected with an installation disc, the installation disc is fixedly connected with a protective cover, and a flow velocity sensor, a flow direction measuring instrument and a water temperature sensor are fixedly installed in the protective cover, so that ocean current monitoring is achieved. The sensor can be prevented from being damaged by external force; the ocean current monitoring mechanism is provided with a direction adjusting mechanism and a perpendicularity adjusting mechanism at the same time, so that the monitoring direction and the perpendicularity are adjusted, and the monitoring accuracy is guaranteed.
