The invention discloses a novel design scheme for improving the essential energy conservation of a ship through a gearbox, which comprises a shaft system arranged between a main engine and a propeller, and the shaft system comprises a front shaft system driven by the main engine and a rear shaft system used for driving the propeller; a gear box capable of realizing speed change between the rear shaft system and the front shaft system is arranged between the front shaft system and the rear shaft system; the front shaft system and the rear shaft system are both connected to the gearbox. According to the invention, the matching design of the ship propeller is not limited by the rotating speed range of the main engine, so that the propulsion efficiency of the ship is improved, and the essential energy-saving capability of the ship is further improved; and therefore, the full-life-cycle emission requirement can be met more economically and efficiently.
