A vehicle power converter includes a transformer, a primary side power module, and a secondary side power module. The primary power module includes a first plurality of half-bridge branches, where the main branch terminal receives a voltage input of the vehicle battery, the intermediate terminals of a portion of the half-bridge branches are connected to the vehicle electric machine, and the intermediate terminals of a portion of the half-bridge branches are connected to the primary winding of the transformer. The secondary power module includes a second plurality of half-bridge branches, where the intermediate terminal of each half-bridge branch is connected to the secondary winding of the transformer and the primary branch terminal is an output.
