The invention provides a diesel generator for an overwater operation and a using method. The diesel generator for t he overwater operation comprises a diesel engine and a generator; a power output shaft of the diesel engine is connected with a power input shaft of the generator; insulating bottom plates are arranged at the bottoms of the diesel engine and the generator; the diesel engine and the generator are sleeved with a generator cover; a wave-resistant retaining wall is arranged outside the generator cover; a buoyancy support is arranged at the bottom of the wave-resistant retaining wall; and an anchoring mechanism used for positioning and floating of the generator is arranged on one side of the wave-resistant retaining wall. The problem of the lack of diesel generators for the overwater operation in the past is solved, the structure of the diesel generator is reasonable, the diesel generator can be used for long-time operation on water, and the design of a ground anchor is adopted, so that the diesel generator is stabilized in a designated area without worrying about random drifting.
