The invention relates to a transmission system (1) for a vehicle (2). The transmission system (1) has a component (3) with a first state variable and at least one state variable to be evaluated, an evaluation unit (4) for determining the value of the state variable to be estimated and at least one first sensor (5) for detecting the current value of the first state variable. The evaluation unit (4)is set up to perform the prediction of the value of the state variable to be estimated by means of the first covariance matrix and to perform the correction of the value of the state variable to be estimated by means of the current value of the first state variable and the second covariance matrix, wherein the first covariance matrix is at least a measure of the noise of the state variable to beestimated, and the second covariance matrix is a measure of noise when detecting the current value of the first state variable. The evaluation unit (4) has an approximation module (6) for approximating the first covariance matrix and the second covariance matrix according to at least the current value of the first state variable.
