The invention discloses an overlapping device and overlapping method of a gap between platforms. The overlapping device comprises a horizontal push-and-pull device, a vertical lifting device, a pedal and a foundation rack, wherein the horizontal push-and-pull device is arranged on the foundation rack; the horizontal push-and-pull device comprises a telescopic push rod, a telescopic push rod holder, a fixed hinge pedestal, a translation rack and two translation-rack guiding rails; the fixed hinge pedestal and the two translation-rack guiding rails are mounted on the foundation rack; the translation rack is mounted on the two translation-rack guiding rails through a sliding block I; the telescopic push rod and the telescopic push rod holder are in series connection; the bottom of the telescopic push rod holder is hinged to the fixed hinge pedestal; the top of the telescopic push rod is hinged to one end of the translation rack; the vertical lifting device is arranged on the translation rack; the lower part of the pedal is connected with the vertical lifting device; the pedal and the foundation rack keep in horizontal. The overlapping device is simple, reliable and stable, and can be used as an overlapping pedal of a gap between platforms with a long distance in the vertical and horizontal directions.
