Installation of rope suspended belt haulage system in Carlsbad, NM, potash mine to complement already existing rail transport arrangement; since first belt installation, belt has been used whenever mining height standard was below minimum height for rail haulage, which has been fixed at 6 ft; in addition, excessive bed grades have influenced use of belt; advantages and limitations of both systems; proposed changes in haulage in mine.
