Severe motions in rough seas, probability of occurrence and severity of slamming and shipping of green water, and wave slapping are considered on basis of experimental study conducted on 13-ft Mariner model; effects of sea severity, ship speed, course angle, and loading condition on motions and extreme behavior are examined; comparisons between theoretical and experimental results are made on frequency of slamming, time interval between successive slams, and pressures associated with slamming and shipping of green water.
