Suitable location of feeder bus stop is crucial to coordinate transfer between urban rail transit and feeder bus near urban intersection. This paper addresses an optimal location problem from the view of transferring between two main urban public transport modes. The transfer progress is analyzed and classified into three sections, fixed walking time, extra walking time, and waiting time. A mathematical programing model with constraints of bus stop location and successful transfer is developed to minimize transfer time. The model feasible solution size is limited and a brute force algorithm is applied to solve the problem. The Yurun St. station in Nanjing Metro is selected to implement case studies for verifying the validity of the proposed model. The result shows that the proposed model is capable of optimizing the location of bus stop and is helpful to improve the operational efficiency of public transportation.
